Smart Energies faced growing administrative burdens due to new energy legislation and increasing demands for data quality in reports to OTE (Electricity Market Operator) and EDC (Electricity Data Centre).
Daily reporting to OTE significantly increased the time spent on data-related admin tasks. What once could be handled by simple Excel macros became too complex. Every day, large volumes of data in specific formats needed to be reviewed, missing values had to be calculated, and accuracy verified. Data came from a mix of sources—from measuring systems to manual readings—which prolonged the process and reduced efficiency.
Smart Energies implemented EnergoSync, our modern cloud platform for processing data from electricity meters. The platform’s key benefit lies in automating data handling and reporting processes. Reducing human involvement in working with time series dramatically lowers the risk of errors. Real-time data processing speeds up workflows and enables immediate responses to anomalies. Most importantly, EnergoSync adapts to each client's specific needs.
EnergoSync was connected to the client’s Helios billing system using a custom-built smart agent deployed on-premise. This ensures a high level of cybersecurity, as systems within the private network initiate outgoing connections rather than accepting external requests. The agent continuously feeds data into the billing system, always on time and in compliance with current regulations. In the event of outages, EnergoSync fills in missing data using appropriate methods (e.g., consumption profiles).

The platform unified data processing from multiple sources (Mervis SCADA, FlowBox, manual Excel readings) and enabled automatic correction of invalid values. EnergoSync processes both high-voltage and low-voltage metering data and supports additional parameters such as dual-tariff readings, reactive power, load profiles, real-time power, and electricity production. Each metric has defined validation and automation flows to ensure high data consistency and quality.

We tailored both the interface and processes to Smart Energies’ daily operations. The system now supports audit tools, missing data checks, and anomaly detection — enabling quick responses and ensuring high-quality reporting.
EnergoSync continues to evolve alongside Smart Energies’ needs. It has become a stable part of their data infrastructure and serves as a foundation for further digitalization. Ongoing development keeps pace with legislative updates in energy reporting.

Implementing EnergoSync has delivered measurable improvements in data quality and operational efficiency. Smart Energies now has full control over the entire data pipeline — from collection to reporting — allowing them to focus on growing their energy services.
